Turkish pop star Gulsen handed suspended jail sentence for spiritual faculties joke

Pop star Gulsen has been handed a 10-month suspended jail sentence after being convicted of “inciting hatred and enmity” over a joke about Turkey’s spiritual faculties, state media has reported.

The singer-songwriter was briefly jailed in Turkey final August after a video of the feedback that led to the conviction – which had been made 4 months earlier – surfaced on a web site.

The 46-year-old Turkish star, whose full identify is Gulsen Colakoglu, was arrested on a cost of incitement to hatred.

Gulsen’s arrest had sparked outrage amid accusations the singer was focused over her help for LGBTQ+ rights and for holding liberal views that go towards President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s AK Party.
