China sends plane and vessels towards Taiwan days after US approves $500-million arms sale

BEIJING (AP) – Taiwan’s protection ministry mentioned Saturday that China despatched dozens of plane and vessels towards the island, simply days after the United States accredited a $500-million arms sale to Taiwan.

The protection ministry mentioned in an announcement that 32 plane from the People’s Liberation Army and 9 vessels from the navy had been detected within the 24 hours between 6 a.m. Friday and 6 a.m. Saturday.

Of these, 20 plane both crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait or breached Taiwan’s air protection identification zone. In response, Taiwan tasked its personal plane, vessels and missile techniques to reply to the actions, the protection navy mentioned.



China sees self-ruled Taiwan as a renegade province to be taken by pressure if obligatory. In the previous 12 months, Beijing has stepped up navy drills across the island in response to Taiwan’s political actions.
