Dublin: Man dies after explosion in metropolis centre hostel

A person has died after an explosion in Dublin metropolis centre.

The blast occurred in a hostel and was confined to at least one room.

Irish police mentioned a person was fatally injured and there have been no different accidents reported.

Officers and Dublin Fire Brigade had been known as to Little Britain Street following stories of a blast inside a Depaul homeless hostel after 3.30pm on Thursday.

The explanation for the explosion is beneath investigation as police study the positioning.

It is known officers didn’t suspect foul play of their preliminary evaluation of the scene.

Residents have been evacuated from the premises and a cordon was in place.

Depaul mentioned it was working with the Dublin Regional Homelessness Executive (DRHE) and was on the lookout for different locations for the residents.

In an announcement, the corporate mentioned: “Depaul can confirm that there was an incident this afternoon in our Little Britain Street service.

“It was a localised incident confined to at least one room. All service customers shall be evacuated from the constructing tonight and different placements shall be discovered.

“Depaul are working with the DRHE and our NGO partners to ensure no person will be left without accommodation this evening.”
