Colorado’s Ryan Feltner has cranium fracture, concussion from line drive

DENVER — Colorado pitcher Ryan Feltner has a cranium fracture and concussion after getting hit by a line drive off the bat of Philadelphia’s Nick Castellanos.

Feltner was injured Saturday evening and was prone to be discharged from a hospital later Sunday. He is not going to want surgical procedure.

“Overall, he’s fine,” Colorado supervisor Bud Black stated earlier than Sunday’s sport. “I think the feeling is that it could have been worse.”

Feltner was placed on the 15-day injured record. When requested whether or not the 26-year-old right-hander can be out for days, weeks or months, Black stated “probably on the longer end of that.”

Feltner was harm within the second inning when Castellanos hit a slider 92.7 mph again on the mound. The ball hit Feltner on the again proper aspect of his head, and he fell to the bottom. “He just needs time to let the fractures heal and the concussion to diminish,” Black stated. “From everything that I’ve been told here this morning, things are looking up.”

Feltner is 2-3 with a 5.86 ERA.

Right-hander Riley Pint was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque, the place the 25-year-old reliever has a 7.41 ERA in 13 appearances this season.

“At some point, we’re going to need a starter for Ryan’s spot,” Black stated. “We’ll go through that process this week.”
