Bambos Charalambous: Labour suspends shadow minister following grievance

A Labour frontbencher has been suspended after the social gathering acquired a grievance about his behaviour, Sky News understands.

Shadow overseas minister Bambos Charalambous has been “administratively suspended” from the social gathering pending an investigation – that means he has misplaced the whip and can sit within the Commons as an impartial MP.

Mr Charalambous, the MP for Enfield Southgate, stated he was “aware that there is an allegation that requires investigation by the Labour Party”.

“It is right and proper that process is allowed to take place,” he tweeted. “I will cooperate fully and play my full part.

“It isn’t applicable to say something additional presently.”

The Guardian, which first reported the suspension, stated the grievance had been submitted to Labour’s impartial complaints course of.

Since the 2019 normal election, 9 Labour MPs have misplaced the whip and never had it restored.
