Twins’ Kyle Farmer hit in face by 92 mph fastball from Giolito

MINNEAPOLIS — Minnesota Twins shortstop Kyle Farmer was hit within the face by a fastball from Chicago White Sox right-hander Lucas Giolito within the fourth inning Wednesday.

The preliminary prognosis was introduced by the Twins as a jaw harm after the 92 mph pitch from Giolito ran inside and knocked Farmer to the grime. Giolito appeared involved as he raised his arms towards his head and walked ahead from the mound.

Farmer laid face down for a couple of minutes because the Twins tended to him, earlier than he climbed to his toes and walked slowly to the dugout with a towel pressed in opposition to his face and his head hunched down.

Willi Castro entered as a pinch-runner for Farmer, who was acquired in offseason commerce with Cincinnati. He has began seven of 12 video games for the Twins, filling in at second base for Jorge Polanco and extra not too long ago at shortstop for Carlos Correa.

Polanco (left knee irritation) is on the injured listing together with three different regulars: Joey Gallo, Max Kepler and Alex Kirilloff. Correa (mid-back spasms) missed his fourth straight recreation on Wednesday. He may return to the lineup on Thursday.
