Blue Jays nearer Romano replaces Valdez on AL roster

Blue Jays nearer Jordan Romano has made his second All-Star staff.

Romano will change Astros right-hander Framber Valdez, who pitched Saturday, on the American League roster.

Entering Sunday’s motion, Romano has a 2.95 ERA and 47 strikeouts throughout 36 2/3 innings. He shares the league lead in saves (25) with Cleveland’s Emmanuel Clase.

The last-minute honors are nothing new for Romano — that is the second consecutive season through which he is had an abrupt change of plans the Sunday earlier than the break, having changed Gerrit Cole on the AL All-Star staff hours earlier than the Blue Jays took the sector for his or her ultimate recreation of the primary half in 2022.
