Trump says decide overseeing categorized docs case ‘loves our country,’ amid request to delay

Former President Donald Trump on Sunday praised U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon, who’s overseeing the case in opposition to him for allegedly mishandling categorized paperwork after leaving workplace.

The 2024 presidential candidate’s remarks come amid a request from his authorized staff for Judge Cannon, a Trump appointee, to postpone his trial till an unspecified date that may doubtless push it till after subsequent 12 months’s election. 

“I know it’s a very highly respected judge. A very smart judge and a very strong judge,” Mr. Trump stated on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures.” “She’s very smart and very strong, and loves our country. We need judges that love our country so they do the right thing.”



Judge Cannon has been the topic of criticism by Democrats over her previous rulings on the FBI’s investigation and search of Mr. Trump’s house in South Florida which had been overturned twice by an appeals courtroom. 

Mr. Trump has pleaded not responsible to 37 counts of Illegally retaining categorized paperwork and obstruction of justice.

“I’m very proud to have appointed her,” Mr. Trump stated of Judge Cannon.
