WASHINGTON — After having simply 4 official staffers on the payroll final quarter, President Joe Biden’s 2024 reelection marketing campaign on Monday introduced that former White House aide and congressman Cedric Richmond is becoming a member of as co-chair and that two veteran Democratic fundraisers are signing on to steer outreach to donors.
Richmond, who served as a senior adviser to Biden within the White House and director of the workplace of public engagement, has been a key political confidant to the president and is about to reprise that function on his marketing campaign. Biden’s staff additionally introduced that Rufus Gifford and Chris Korge will function finance chairs of Biden’s marketing campaign and victory fund, respectively.
Gifford has been chief of protocol on the Department of State and served as ambassador to Denmark within the Obama administration. He had beforehand served as finance director for Obama’s 2012 reelection marketing campaign and for the Democratic National Committee. Korge is the finance chairman for the DNC and held an identical function for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential effort.
“Bringing in these trusted and known leaders that have a strong and proven record of helping win presidential campaigns sends a clear signal to the American people that we continue to build out a powerhouse campaign leadership team that knows what it will take to win in November 2024,” stated Biden marketing campaign supervisor Julie Chavez Rodriguez in an announcement.
Biden’s marketing campaign has remained intentionally small within the early days, with solely a small staff of aides working from the DNC’s workplaces in Washington in anticipation of a bigger growth in coming months. The marketing campaign reported on Saturday that it raised almost $20 million since Biden declared his candidacy in April – with the whole rising to over $72 million when different contributions to the DNC and different democratic entities are factored in.
