2 U.S. Navy sailors arrested on expenses tied to nationwide safety, China

SAN DIEGO — Two U.S. Navy sailors have been arrested on expenses associated to nationwide safety and tied to China, U.S. officers mentioned Thursday.

A 22-year-old sailor assigned to a ship in San Diego was arrested Wednesday on a cost associated to espionage involving conspiracy to ship nationwide protection info to Chinese officers, based on the U.S. officers, who weren’t approved to debate the matter publicly and spoke on situation of anonymity.

Another sailor was arrested at Naval Base Ventura County north of Los Angeles and charged with conspiracy and receipt of a bribe from a Chinese official, the U.S. officers mentioned. It was unclear if the 2 instances had been associated.



The U.S. Justice Department declined to remark when contacted by The Associated Press. Federal officers had been anticipated to launch extra particulars at a press convention scheduled in San Diego later Thursday.
