Penguins common supervisor/president of hockey operations Kyle Dubas stated Guentzel had the surgical procedure on Wednesday. The 28-year-old Guentzel had been coping with a lingering ankle concern throughout the offseason.

“As Jake continued to increase the intensity of his preparation for the upcoming season, it was apparent that his ankle injury was not resolving in a way that was satisfactory to he or the Penguins,” Dubas stated Friday in an announcement.

Guentzel, an All-Star in 2022, has thrived since arriving in Pittsburgh within the latter phases of the 2016-17 season. Playing primarily alongside Sidney Crosby, Guentzel has scored 197 objectives to go together with 217 assists in 453 profession video games.
