A “record” quantity of cocaine price €400m (£353m) has been recovered off the coast of Sicily.
Seventy waterproof parcels, weighing a complete of two tonnes, had been discovered floating within the sea close to the port of Catania.
The packages, tagged with an illuminating sign machine, had been noticed from the sky by a surveillance airplane.
Plastic wrapping prevented the medicine from getting moist and the parcels had been held along with fishing nets.
Police deployed dinghies to recuperate the medicine and later discovered that the packages contained 1,600 packets of cocaine.
It is among the largest hauls ever confiscated in Italy, with police calling it a “record” seizure.
A police assertion mentioned that the “peculiar packaging methods and the presence of a luminous device to allow tracking” urged a cargo ship dumped the medicine at sea so it may very well be collected at a later time.
Police ships tracked the port of Catania for any boats that will have been concerned within the operation.
