Georgia man accused of breaking into Florida church, stealing electronics and baptizing himself

A Georgia man stands accused of breaking right into a Panama City Beach, Florida, church, purportedly vandalizing the inside and stealing electronics earlier than baptizing himself.

Derek Porter is alleged to have used a cinderblock to smash a window to enter the church Friday. An unnamed lady working on the church on the time of the incident fled to security upon listening to the glass break, the Bay County Sheriff’s Office stated.

From there, Mr. Porter is accused of inflicting $8,000 in harm to the inside of the home of worship earlier than then taking electronics, together with a TV and a pc to his truck, together with the church’s cash bag.

Mr. Porter informed the BCSO deputies that he couldn’t bear in mind numerous moments of his supposed sojourn contained in the church. What Mr. Porter stated he did bear in mind was wading into the church’s pool and baptizing himself — or, as he claims, having his head held down within the font by “something.”

In addition to the electronics Mr. Porter is accused of getting stolen, investigators discovered meth and related paraphernalia on Mr. Porter.

Mr. Porter, who was out on bond for a housebreaking dedicated in Georgia on the time of the incident, has now been charged with felony mischief, housebreaking, possession of meth and possession of drug paraphernalia.
