Riley Greene, Reese Olson lead Tigers to series-clinching 3-0 win towards Twins

DETROIT — Riley Greene broke up a pitcher’s duel with a sixth-inning homer and the Detroit Tigers beat the Minnesota Twins 3-0 on Thursday.

Detroit‘s third straight victory gave the Tigers a 3-1 win of the work-week collection.

“We really didn’t have a great game on Monday, but we bounced back and fought hard for these three wins,” Tigers supervisor A.J. Hinch stated. “We had well timed hits, guys have been making good performs everywhere in the protection and we clearly pitched very well.



“But we’ll see these guys again in a few days in Minnesota.”

Minnesota had received 5 straight after taking Monday’s opener.

“We came in playing good and we played well in the first game,” Twins supervisor Rocco Baldelli stated. “After that, we just didn’t give ourselves enough opportunities.”

The Twins had two singles, the final within the fifth inning.

“We were trying to do a difficult thing – winning a game without scoring,” Baldelli stated. “That’s not going to work out.”

Reese Olson (2-5) pitched six scoreless innings, permitting two hits and three walks whereas placing out eight.

With set-up man Jason Foley on bereavement depart and nearer Alex Lange coping with management points, Hinch needed to improvise with the again finish of his bullpen. Chasen Shreve pitched the seventh, and transformed starter Beau Brieske pitched the final two innings for his second save.
