N.C. father charged in killing of driver who fatally struck his son

TIMBERLAKE, N.C. — A North Carolina father has been charged after fatally capturing a driver who hit and killed his teenage son alongside a street Monday, a sheriff mentioned.

The 17-year-old boy died because the household of three walked dwelling after operating out of fuel round 6:30 a.m., Person County Sheriff Jason Wilborn instructed information retailers. The driver of the truck stopped and referred to as 911 shortly after the crash, which occurred close to Timberlake.

The teen’s father, Chad Woods, then pulled out a gun and shot the motive force, who was recognized as Jeffery McKay, the sheriff’s workplace mentioned. After the capturing, Woods took the motive force’s car and drove dwelling, officers mentioned. News retailers report McKay was driving a North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections car.



Woods was arrested and charged with second-degree homicide and larceny of a motorized vehicle, the sheriff’s workplace mentioned. Woods is ready to look in courtroom on Aug. 21. It wasn’t instantly clear whether or not he has an legal professional, courthouse officers mentioned.

“This is kind of a first. I’ve been to people struck by cars and I’ve been to shootings, but I haven’t ever had this happen at the same time. Sad situation all around, for all the families,” Sgt. Kevin Morris, with the sheriff’s workplace, instructed WTVD-TV.
