Sen. Mike Rounds geese query on voting for Trump if he’s convicted

Sen. Mike Rounds demurred Sunday when pressed on whether or not he would vote for Donald Trump if the previous president is convicted on any of the legal fees towards him in 4 separate instances.

“I’m hoping, truly, that we get to the point where I don’t have to make that type of a decision,” the South Dakota Republican stated on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “I was there on January 6, I saw what happened. I’m not happy about what happened. I was not happy with his performance on that particular day.”

Mr. Rounds has endorsed fellow GOP Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina within the presidential main and has been criticized by Mr. Trump for rejecting his claims in regards to the 2020 election being stolen.

Mr. Rounds questioned whether or not Mr. Trump may beat President Joe Biden within the common election.

“We don’t know. That’s one of the concerns that a lot of people have got. Me as well,” he stated. “It’s the reason why I think if we bring in a uniter, rather than a divider, I think we’ve got a better shot at doing what’s right for this country long term.”
