Costa Coffee is recalling 4 of its lunch merchandise, together with some wraps and sandwiches, over fears they might comprise “small stones”.
In an announcement from the Food Standards Agency (FSA), the espresso store chain mentioned the meals gadgets “may present a choking hazard and are unsafe to eat”.
Costa added it was taking the recall “extremely seriously” and apologised to its clients.
The merchandise being recalled are the BLT sandwich, hen salad sandwich, southern fried hen wrap and the hen and bacon caesar wrap, with use-by dates between 6 September and eight September.
“We are advising customers not to consume these products,” the FSA added.
“Any customers in possession of these products can return them to their nearest store where a full refund will be given.”
A Costa Coffee spokeswoman mentioned: “Costa Coffee is recalling 4 savoury gadgets.
“We have been notified by our provider of a doable presence of small stones that could possibly be a choking hazard if consumed.
“Customers who purchased any of the merchandise listed mustn’t eat them and as an alternative, please return to a retailer, with or with no receipt, for a full refund.
“We take this matter extremely seriously and sincerely apologise for any concern this recall has caused.”
