AmeriGas Propane constructing in Pennsylvania burns down after two tanks explode

An AmeriGas Partners constructing in Independence Township, Pennsylvania, burned to the bottom Friday after two propane tanks exploded in a storage at 3:40 p.m.

No accidents had been reported from the explosion, Independence Township Fire-EMS posted on Facebook.

The constructing internet hosting the storage was gutted.

“The only thing standing is the four walls. Everything in there is a complete loss,” Independence Township Fire Chief Jeri New advised Pittsburgh ABC affiliate WTAE-TV.

Larger tanks elsewhere within the facility had been unaffected and had been shut off.

In an announcement, AmeriGas advised native NBC station WPXI, “We have been notified of the situation, and AmeriGas personnel are on the scene. We will begin the investigation as soon as possible.”

Independence is a half hour northwest of Pittsburgh.
