South Florida floods: Fort Lauderdale Airport closed as area sees greater than two toes of rain
South Florida has been hit with greater than two toes of rain inflicting floods and extreme disruption to the area.It's an "unprecedented amount" of rainfall for the world in line with Miami meteorologist Shawn Bhatti, who added that the full precipitation throughout the six-hour interval was a "one in 1,000 chance" occasion in a yr.
The rain was at its heaviest on Wednesday in Broward County, southeast Florida, and measured as much as 25in on some gauges.Fort Lauderdale issued a state of emergency, and its Hollywood International Airport will stay closed till Friday morning as a result of scale of particles and extra water. Its City Hall can also be shut, flooded and with out energy.
