A California wholesaler introduced the recall Friday of clear jars of miniature Sun Wave model fruit jelly cups imported from Taiwan. The merchandise have been bought at retail places nationwide.
The recalled merchandise are 1000 gram and 1500 gram clear jars containing assorted lychee, and mango-flavored jelly cups. The Sun Wave model jelly straws bought by Richin Trading weren’t affected within the recall.
The recall was applied after wholesaler Richin Trading Inc. spoke with Food and Drug Administration officers who identified that the jelly contained in the cups is so small that it has choked kids to demise earlier than, together with the 1999 demise of Michelle Enrile, 12.
As of but, no choking incidents have been reported in connection to the Sun Wave cups. Ingredients labels for the Sun Wave jars present a warning that the product isn’t really helpful for kids beneath 5.
An ingredient utilized in banned jelly cups, konjac powder, doesn’t seem like used in Sun Wave merchandise.
