RTE says it has no plans to carry again Ireland’s greatest TV star after negotiations with him broke down.
Ryan Tubridy has been on the centre of an argument over the beneath declaration of his wage by €345,000 (£295,000) between 2017 and 2022.
The revelation sparked a backlash towards the presenter – already the Irish broadcaster’s highest-paid star with a wage of €440,000 (£375,500) in 2021 – as a result of they got here at a time at which the cash-strapped broadcaster was making cuts elsewhere.
RTE director-general Kevin Bakhurst says Tubridy is not going to return to the channel after belief between the events had “broken down”.
