Singer and actress Jane Birkin has died

Singer and actress Jane Birkin has died on the age of 76, French media have reported.

The English-French star, who impressed the Hermès Birkin designer purse, was discovered at her house by her caregiver, BFMTV reported.

Beginning her profession as an actress, she gained worldwide fame for her on and off-screen relationship with Serge Gainsbourg.

The pair met whereas co-starring in 1969 French satirical romantic comedy Slogan and went on to launch a debut album in the identical 12 months.

The album featured the sexually express tune “Je t’aime…moi non plus” which reached primary within the UK Singles Chart.

After their cut up in 1980 Birkin continued to work, showing in a number of movies and recording quite a few solo albums.

“I’ve always been a big optimist, and I realise that it still takes me a little while to be able to be on stage again and with you. I love being with you so much,” she stated in an announcement on the time.
