SiriusXM is shutting down its Stitcher podcast app to emphasise its flagship app

SAN FRANCISCO — Satellite-radio supplier SiriusXM stated it would shut down its Stitcher podcast app on the finish of August in favor of its personal SiriusXM app, half of a bigger effort to emphasise its personal model.

Many of the podcasts featured on Stitcher are already accessible on the SiriusXM app, and all podcasts on Stitcher “can also be found anywhere else podcasts are distributed,” the corporate stated. SiriusXM Holdings Ltd. doesn’t have unique podcasts.

The firm is sending current Stitcher customers a proposal for a free six-month trial of its platinum SiriusXM service, which incorporates the corporate’s streaming providers for music, sports and sports speak, different speak reveals and information.

No layoffs are deliberate as a part of the change. Stitcher, which SiriusXM acquired in 2020 for $325 million, has emphasised the simplicity of its app, noting on its web site that it was “designed for podcasts and nothing else.” Its app and web site had a mixed 900,000 distinctive guests as of March, based on Comscore.

SiriusXM plans a revamp of its personal app later this yr that will even emphasize ease of use and worth flexibility.
