Reds name up Matt McLain, membership’s No. 5 prospect
The Reds on Monday referred to as up second baseman/shortstop Matt McLain, the membership's No. 5 prospect and No. 95 general per MLB Pipeline, to make his MLB debut. To make room on the energetic roster for McLain, the crew positioned outfielder TJ Friedl on the 10-day injured record, retroactive to Friday, with a left indirect pressure. Joey Votto was transferred to the 60-day IL to clear a 40-man roster spot.
McLain, the membership’s first-round Draft decide in 2021, has been a star all season lengthy at Triple-A for the Louisville Bats, slashing .348/.474/.710 with 12 homers in 138 at-bats.
