China begins army drills close to Taiwan – after island’s chief met with US speaker
China has begun three days of army workout routines round Taiwan in retaliation for a gathering between the US House of Representatives speaker and the president of the self-ruled island claimed by Beijing.A Chinese amphibious touchdown ship - able to transporting troops, craft and automobiles - started live-fire drills within the seas dealing with the Taiwan Strait on Saturday morning, whereas 42 Chinese fighter jets and eight warships have been detected close to the island.
