Minnesota Rep. Dean Philips on Friday launched his upstart problem towards President Biden for the Democratic presidential nomination, saying it’s “time for the torch to be passed to a new generation of American leaders.”
Mr. Phillips filed his paperwork Friday to run within the New Hampshire major, tentatively set for Jan. 23.
“I am inviting you to join me in declaring a new American independence, not from another nation or people — rather a new independence from fear and the status quo,” Mr. Phillips mentioned. “That road to a new American century starts right here and it starts right now.”
“I am running for the Democratic nomination for president of the United States because, my friends, it is time for change, and I am ready to lead our great nation to a secure and a more prosperous future.”
Mr. Phillips, 54, has been supportive of Mr. Biden, however made it clear in his announcement that he feels as if the 80-year-old president is previous his prime.
Declaring he has “affection” and “gratitude” for Mr. Biden, Mr. Phillips mentioned, “I am the Democratic candidate who can win the 2024 election.”
