Democratic Missouri lawmaker May enters race for U.S. Sen. Hawley’s seat

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — State Sen. Karla May is operating for U.S. Senate in Missouri, the St. Louis Democrat introduced Tuesday in her hometown.

May is vying for the Democratic nomination in opposition to St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Wesley Bell and Marine veteran Lucas Kunce.

The winner doubtless will face off in opposition to incumbent Republican U.S. Sen. Josh Hawley within the 2024 normal election.



If elected, May or Bell can be among the many first, if not the one, particular person of shade elected to statewide workplace in Missouri. But Democrats face slim odds within the now Republican-dominated state.

Voters first elected May to the state Legislature in 2010.
