OAKLAND — Aaron Judge performed catch Wednesday afternoon on the Coliseum, marking the primary time the Yankees’ captain has participated in baseball actions since injuring his toe. It’s progress in the correct course, although Judge declined to overstate its significance.

“It’s just another step. I wouldn’t say it’s significant or not significant,” he stated previous to the Yankees’ recreation towards the A’s. “There’s a lot of steps we’ve got to take to get back to going on the field, so this is just another step along the way.”

“Definitely good to see him out here, walking out here and playing some catch,” supervisor Aaron Boone stated. “Just another step on the road back. It’s been slow-moving, obviously, but at least we continue to see steady progress.”

After enjoying catch Wednesday, Judge stated his toe has felt higher with each passing day. He relished the possibility to exit and hold his arm in form, noting that throwing does not put an excessive amount of stress on his again foot. He stated he felt good afterward and hopes to throw once more Thursday.

“I tried not to push it,” Judge stated. “I moved round slightly bit, went via some very sluggish, like, if I used to be catching a ball down the road and reverse pivoting, one thing like if I used to be going into the right-center hole and throwing to second, simply to see how loading it felt. But I actually did not really feel an excessive amount of going via these issues.

“It was a good sign for me. I look forward to getting out there tomorrow and playing some more catch.”

The subsequent massive step for Judge shall be to renew hitting, Boone stated. As of proper now, there isn’t any timetable for Judge to start a hitting development.

“Really being able to torque and turn on that back foot and stuff,” Boone stated. “When we get to that point where he starts being able to let it go hitting-wise, that’ll be a good indicator that now it’s just about getting him built up and ready to go.”
