LSU’s Dylan Crews wins Golden Spikes Award because the nation’s prime baseball participant

OMAHA, Neb. — LSU heart fielder Dylan Crews, projected to be the No. 1 decide within the novice draft subsequent month, on Sunday was honored because the winner of the Golden Spikes Award as the highest novice baseball participant within the nation.

Crews, the Southeastern Conference participant of the yr for the second straight season, led the Tigers to the College World Series finals and is among the many nationwide leaders in most offensive classes. He’s first in runs scored (94), second in on-base share (.562), fifth in hits (104) and sixth in batting common (.418).

Crews is the tenth Golden Spikes winner from the Southeastern Conference and the second from LSU. The Tigers’ Ben McDonald received the award in 1989.



“Dylan Crews has been one of the nation’s best college baseball players since he arrived at LSU in 2021,” USA Baseball govt director and CEO Paul Seiler stated. “His extraordinary 2023 season, in addition to his generous charitable work off the baseball field, make him an extremely worthy winner of this award.”

Of the 44 earlier Golden Spikes winners, three have received the Cy Young Award, three have been a Most Valuable Player and 20 have been chosen to no less than one All-Star staff as a participant or supervisor.

The winner was chosen by means of voting by nationwide baseball media, choose skilled baseball personnel, USA Baseball workers and former winners.
