PHILADELPHIA — Matt Olson tied the Braves’ franchise file when he hit his 51st house run throughout the fourth inning of Tuesday evening’s sport in opposition to the Phillies at Citizens Bank Park.
Olson’s record-tying homer was an opposite-field shot off Zack Wheeler. Both Olson and Wheeler have been younger Braves followers rising up in suburban Atlanta when Andruw Jones set the franchise file by hitting 51 homers in 2005.
Olson leads MLB in each house runs and RBIs. No different participant has greater than 44 homers. The first baseman’s 128 RBIs are 25 greater than some other participant. He is seven shy of the Braves’ trendy franchise file Eddie Mathews set in 1953. Gary Sheffield set the Atlanta season file when he drove in 132 runs in 2003.
