MIAMI — Jorge Soler knocked a go-ahead two-run pinch-hit homer within the seventh inning of the Marlins’ 4-3 win over the Giants on Monday night time at loanDepot park.
Eleven of Soler’s 12 hits this season have gone for additional bases (six doubles and 5 homers). The knock marked his second profession pinch-hit homer and the primary since Sept. 21, 2015, vs. the Brewers whereas he was with the Cubs.
When requested pregame why Soler wasn’t within the lineup, supervisor Skip Schumaker introduced up Soler’s profession numbers towards right-hander Logan Webb: 0-for-10 with seven strikeouts. Schumaker referred to as it one of the best day to present him off.
But after Nick Fortes grounded right into a double play with runners on the corners, Schumaker turned to Soler over utility participant Garrett Hampson. Soler despatched an 0-1 middle-middle slider to straightaway heart for the decisive shot.
