CLEVELAND — New York Yankees supervisor Aaron Boone was ejected within the first inning Wednesday towards the Cleveland Guardians following a heated change with umpires over a play that was not initially reviewed by instantaneous replay.
Boone spent a number of minutes pleading his case after the Yankees appeared to finish the primary with a double play.
Cleveland had runners at second and third with one out when Josh Naylor hit a looper to heart discipline that Yankees outfielder Aaron Hicks appeared to catch with a sliding seize. Hicks then threw to second for a force-out and an obvious inning-ending double play.
