Erling Haaland, Sam Kerr win Football Writers’ Association awards

LONDON — Erling Haaland was voted “Footballer of the Year” in England for his prolific debut season with Manchester City, and Chelsea striker Sam Kerr grew to become the primary back-to-back winner of the ladies’s award on Friday.

The Football Writers’ Association mentioned Haaland took 82% of the vote, forward of Arsenal teammates Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard.

The 22-year-old Norway worldwide has scored 51 objectives in all competitions to assist put City in rivalry for titles within the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League. He set a report for many objectives (35) in a Premier League season.

Kerr beat out Aston Villa ahead Rachel Daly and Chelsea teammate Lauren James for her second straight FWA award.

The 29-year-old Australia worldwide has scored 26 objectives in 34 membership appearances this season at Chelsea, which faces Manchester United within the FA Cup remaining on Sunday. The workforce additionally reached the Champions League semifinals, shedding to Barcelona.

The ladies’s award was launched in 2018.
