Messi violates MLS media guidelines by not talking with reporters after debut

HARRISON, N.J. (AP) — Lionel Messi didn’t communicate with reporters after his Major League Soccer debut, a violation of the league’s media guidelines.

Messi scored within the 89th minute of Inter Miami’s 2-0 win over the New York Red Bulls on Saturday evening.

Miami spokeswoman Molly Dreska stated after the match that Messi was not being made obtainable to reporters.



Dan Courtemanche, MLS’s govt vice chairman of communications, stated earlier than the sport that Messi, like all gamers, was required to be obtainable to media after video games. Courtemanche stated MLS had a progressive collection of penalties for violations of its media entry guidelines.
