“Further to many medical exams done, it shows that I have a small tear in my calf and I will need more time to recover,” she wrote on social media. “I am sad to announce that I won’t be able to compete and defend my title at Madrid.”

Jabeur was positioned in yesterday’s draw at Madrid because the No.4 seed. She will likely be changed by a fortunate loser.

It has been a tough season for the Tunisian, who underwent minor knee surgical procedure in February and was simply starting to regain her kind when she injured her calf in Stuttgart. She gained the Charleston title in early April and carried a seven-match profitable streak into her semifinal with Swiatek.
