‘Armed and dangerous’ man at giant close to UNC; school positioned on lockdown

Police in North Carolina mentioned Monday an “armed and dangerous” man is at giant and the University of North Carolina is on lockdown after the suspect was noticed across the school campus.

Gov. Roy Cooper, a Democrat, mentioned the suspect was concerned in a capturing. Neither the governor nor the police reported any casualties from the capturing.

“This is a tragic way to start a new semester and the state will provide any assistance necessary to support the UNC community,” Mr. Cooper mentioned.



UNC Police mentioned there was an “armed and dangerous person” and instructed individuals to keep away from contact with the suspect, who seems to be an Asian male. Local Fox affiliate WGHP mentioned the shooter’s photograph seems to match a photograph of a graduate scholar from the UNC listing.

No particulars had been supplied on what the suspect is armed with or the place he could also be. The college went into lockdown at about 1 p.m.
