Boy, 6, stranded miles away from grandmother after he was placed on improper flight

A six-year-old boy ended up 160 miles (257km) away from his grandmother whom he was visiting over the Christmas holidays after he was placed on the improper flight.

The unaccompanied youngster landed in Orlando as an alternative of Fort Myers in southwest Floridato the horror of grandmother Maria Ramos who was ready for him at Southwest Florida International Airport.

It was her grandson’s first-ever flight as he boarded a Spirit Airlines flight from Philadelphia.

Ms Ramos obtained a name from her grandson from the airport in Orlando telling her that he had landed.

She defined how his baggage arrived on the Fort Myers airport however there was no signal of him, in an interview with ABC News.

Ms Ramos mentioned: “They told me he’s not on his flight and he missed his flight. He can’t have as I have his check-in tag.”

She ran contained in the airplane to verify with the flight attendant the place her grandson was.

In response, the attendant mentioned: “No, I had no kids with me,” in accordance with the grandmother.

“I kept thinking about if somebody would’ve stolen my grandson,” she added.

The boy was “incorrectly boarded” on a flight to Orlando, in accordance with Spirit Airlines.

“The child was always under the care and supervision of a Spirit Team Member, and as soon as we discovered the error, we took immediate steps to communicate with the family and reconnect them,” the airline mentioned in an announcement on Saturday.

Once the error was found, the airline let the household know, the assertion added.

“We take the safety and responsibility of transporting all of our guests seriously and are conducting an internal investigation,” it continued. “We apologise to the family for this experience.”
