On Thursday, Customs and Border Protection brokers in Presidio, Texas, discovered a hidden “ingredient” in a traveler’s cheese wheels — seven bundles of cocaine.
The driver, a 22-year-old U.S. citizen whose identify and gender weren’t specified, drove a pick-up truck coming from Mexico to the automobile lanes on the port, and was then referred for a secondary inspection.
The driver had declared 4 wheels of cheese, which have been fed via an x-ray machine. It was at that time that CBP brokers found anomalies inside the wheels. After slicing open the cheese, they discovered seven bundles of cocaine weighing 17.8 kilos.
The avenue worth of the seized narcotics was not specified by CBP. The driver was turned over to Homeland Security Investigations to face expenses referring to their alleged drug smuggling.
