Illinois man who shot himself within the leg whereas dreaming about burglars charged with firearms offences, police say

A person who shot himself within the leg whereas dreaming a few burglar breaking into his residence has been arrested and charged by police within the US.

Although nobody else was damage, and no proof was discovered of an precise intruder within the man’s residence, police mentioned on Tuesday the Illinois resident is suspected of committing firearms offences.

The 62-year-old man, from the village of Lake Barrington northwest of Chicago, instructed police that he “had a dream that someone was breaking into his home”.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office mentioned in an announcement the person “retrieved his .357 Magnum Revolver and shot at who he believed was the intruder. When he fired, he shot himself and apparently woke up from the dream”.

The bullet ended up within the mattress, the sheriff’s workplace added.

The man was charged with possessing a firearm with a revoked Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) card and the reckless discharge of a firearm.

In Illinois, FOID playing cards are required for the possession of weapons and ammunition.

It was not made clear from the official assertion why the firearm identification card had beforehand been revoked.

The capturing occurred at round 9.50pm native time on 10 April.
