Police in New York City accused a migrant lady of assaulting an officer whereas authorities had been conducting a sweep of unregistered mopeds, scooters and bikes in Manhattan’s Upper West Side.
NYPD charged Baibaia Rodriguez, 20, with resisting arrest, third-degree assault and disorderly conduct after police mentioned the girl “hit an officer with an open hand” in the course of the altercation exterior the Stratford Arms Hotel.
Ms. Rodriguez was launched on her personal recognizance Friday. She is due again in courtroom Oct. 19.
The incident was first reported by native weblog West Side Rag.
A video of the altercation was posted on the community-based crime reporting app Citizen, which confirmed police loading the unregistered autos onto a truck round 10:20 p.m. Thursday.
That’s when Ms. Rodriguez, in response to authorities, confronted the officers over the seizure of a bike.
The automobile sweep was completed in response to neighborhood complaints, in response to police.
West Side Rag reported that the lodge has been housing 400 grownup migrants since mid-June.
