Mississippi state senator arrested for DUI in Alabama

FOLEY, Ala. — A Mississippi state senator was arrested in Alabama for driving underneath the affect on a freeway, authorities introduced Monday.

Mississippi state Sen. Michael McLendon, a Republican from DeSoto County, was arrested close to Foley, Alabama, on June 5. Dispatchers acquired a name round 10 a.m. a couple of reckless driver heading southbound on Highway 98, WMC-TV reported.

Deputies examined McLendon on the scene and arrested him for driving underneath the affect. His DUI mixed with substance cost means he might have been underneath the affect of each alcohol and one other substance, in response to the sheriff’s workplace. Police haven’t mentioned what the opposite substance is or whether or not it’s unlawful.



He was later launched on a $2,500 bond. He has a court docket look scheduled for Oct. 25.

McLendon didn’t instantly reply to a name and voicemail requesting a remark. He has represented his north Mississippi district since 2020.
