SANTA FE, N.M. — State Rep. Christine Trujillo says she plans to resign from the New Mexico House of Representatives on the finish of June.
The Democrat, who represents Albuquerque, made the announcement Saturday.
The Bernalillo County Commission will appoint a brand new House member to hold out the rest of Trujillo’s present time period and the District 25 seat will probably be up for election in November of 2024.
“It’s been the honor of my lifetime to represent our community in the Roundhouse for the last decade,” Trujillo mentioned in an announcement. “I look forward to continuing to serve our community in my next chapter.”
Trujillo, a retired educator, has been a part of the state Legislature since 2013.
Albuquerque TV station KOB reviews that Trujillo has advocated for higher entry to well being care, supporting survivors of sexual assault, elevating educators’ pay and guaranteeing high quality schooling for college kids of all ages in New Mexico.
In the newest legislative session, Trujillo co-sponsored a Senate invoice to school-based well being facilities in New Mexico, which might make it simpler for college kids to entry bodily and psychological well being care.
