D.C. Fire and EMS stated that it positioned six staff on go away final week after the primary responders started brawling with a person who was accused of placing a firefighter. The man is in custody.

The 43-year-old Simpkins was arrested on fees of assaulting a police officer after the struggle was stopped, in response to a police report of the incident obtained by The Washington Times.
“The actions depicted in a video of the incident are completely unacceptable and do not reflect the behavior we require of our members,” D.C. Fire spokesman Vito Maggiolo native CBS affiliate WUSA in an announcement Wednesday.
The station reported that fireplace crews have been known as to the scene on Florida Avenue Northwest after Simpkins II had grabbed a wheel of Metrobus and refused to let go.
Police stated Simpkins was performing aggressively towards emergency personnel and ultimately punched one of many firefighters within the face, inflicting the melee to interrupt out.
The DC Fire Fighters Association, the native division’s union, stated in an announcement Wednesday that the firefighters have been treating one other affected person when the suspect “violently attacked” a crew member, which pressured the primary responders to “defend themselves and the helpless patient under their care.”
