Stray bullet hits school baseball participant in Texas; 2 suspects in custody

A university baseball participant in Texas was critically injured Saturday after police stated he was hit by a stray bullet in the midst of a recreation.

Texarkana police stated two suspects believed to be concerned within the incident turned themselves in.

Authorities stated 18-year-old Matthew Delaney, a baseball participant for Texas A&M University-Texarkana, was not in uniform and was standing close to the bullpen of George Dobson Field at Spring Lake Park when he was struck by the bullet round 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

The athlete was taken to a hospital for surgical procedure. A spokesman for the college informed CNN on Monday that Mr. Delaney was upgraded to secure situation within the hospital’s ICU.

“We think it’s important to note that he has a number of serious injuries, as would be expected with this type of trauma,” the spokesman stated. “He has made slight improvements daily but still has significant injuries and complications to overcome.”

Police later issued arrest warrants for 17-year-old Kamauri Butler and 20-year-old Demarco Banks after connecting the athlete’s gunshot wound to an unrelated taking pictures in a neighborhood simply west of the park.

Authorities decided that Kamauri and Mr. Banks bought into an argument and opened hearth on one another. One of the errant rounds traveled about 400 yards and hit the sufferer. Both suspects fled the realm Saturday earlier than police arrived.

Mr. Banks turned himself in to police in a single day Sunday and was booked in Bi-State Jail. He’s being held on a $100,000 bond.
