ATLANTA — The prosecutor investigating interference within the 2020 election in Georgia has agreed to immunity offers with a minimum of eight Republican pretend electors who signed a certificates falsely stating that then-President Donald Trump had gained the state.

Defense lawyer Kimberly Debrow revealed the existence of the immunity offers in a courtroom submitting Friday, saying her eight shoppers had accepted the agreements final month. The submitting doesn't determine the eight individuals who had been provided immunity offers.

Last July, a lawyer for Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’ workplace revealed that every of the 16 individuals who signed the false elector certificates was a goal of her investigation, which is inspecting whether or not Trump and his allies dedicated any crimes whereas attempting to overturn his slim election loss.

The 16 pretend electors met on the state Capitol on Dec. 14, 2020, and signed a certificates declaring falsely that Trump had gained the presidential election and declaring themselves the state’s “duly elected and qualified” electors.

The information of the immunity offers reveals that Willis continues to work on her case as she prepares to make selections on whether or not to hunt expenses this summer season. In letters despatched to legislation enforcement companies late final month, she suggested them to arrange ample safety as she intends to announce her charging selections between mid-July and early September.
