A person charged with assault after singer Bebe Rexha was hit within the face with a cell phone whereas acting on stage stated he threw the cellphone "because it would be funny".

Nicolas Malvagna, 27, from New Jersey has been charged with two counts of assault within the third diploma, one rely of aggravated harassment within the second diploma, one rely of tried assault within the third diploma and one rely of harassment within the second diploma.

According to the Manhattan District Attorney's Office, when requested by officers on the scene, "who threw the phone?" Malvagna responded, "I did," and added: "I was trying to see if I could hit her with the phone at the end of the show because it would be funny".

Footage shared on-line from the gig at The Rooftop at Pier 17 in New York confirmed the cellphone hitting the star - whose actual title is Bleta Rexha - on the brow after being thrown by an individual within the crowd.
