SAN DIEGO — Blake Snell allowed just one hit and struck out 11 in six shutout innings, Matthew Batten hit a two-run shot for his first homer within the majors and the San Diego Padres beat the New York Met 3-1 on Saturday evening.

The Padres ended the Mets’ successful streak at six, successful for the fourth time in 5 video games.

“That’s why he was the NL Pitcher of the Month of June and we got a view of it tonight,” Mets supervisor Buck Showalter mentioned about Snell. “We knew he was on top of his game.”

Snell (6-7) had his fifth double-digit strikeout sport of the season, all in his previous six begins. He has gained 5 of his final six choices, decreasing his ERA to 2.85.
