CLEVELAND — For the second straight 12 months, Cleveland Browns linebacker Jacob Phillips has suffered a season-ending pectoral damage.
Coach Kevin Stefanski stated Phillips tore the chest muscle throughout Friday night time’s preseason loss to the Washington Commanders. Phillips, a third-round choose in 2020 from LSU, sustained an identical damage throughout the 2022 common season in opposition to Baltimore.
Stefanski stated the most recent damage is on the other facet from final season.
“It’s the worst part of this game, seeing guys get injured and especially you see how hard they work,” Stefanski stated. “So it hurts. I hurt for Jacob, and this is why we’re teammates and why we support each other.”
The 24-year-old Phillips went to the locker room within the third quarter Friday night time. He will bear surgical procedure.
Phillips has proven promise when he’s been wholesome. However, he’s been restricted to only 20 video games over the previous three seasons as a consequence of accidents.
He was listed as a backup on Cleveland’s newest depth chart behind Anthony Walker Jr. and Sione Takiki, who're each getting back from season-ending accidents in 2022.
