GOP presidential candidate Chris Christie stated late Tuesday that Republican Daniel Cameron misplaced the Kentucky gubernatorial election to a Democrat as a consequence of “selling his soul” to former President Donald Trump.

“Daniel Cameron made a huge mistake by embracing Donald Trump and selling his soul to him. and that’s what he did,” Christie stated on CNN after Mr. Cameron’s loss. “And the voters of Kentucky, a very red state, as you noted, gave their verdict on politicians who sell their soul to Donald Trump.”

Mr. Cameron, the previous lawyer common of Kentucky, misplaced to incumbent Gov. Andy Beshear. Mr. Trump had endorsed Mr. Cameron, saying he's “a person who is going to be a great governor.”

“Daniel Cameron was a rising star in the Republican Party until he decided to throw his lot in with Donald Trump,” Mr. Christie stated. “I mean, let’s face it — Donald Trump is political and election poison down-ballot.”

Mr. Christie, who's working in opposition to Mr. Trump for the GOP nomination, has been a vocal critic of the previous president. He has stated that Mr. Trump value the GOP seats within the Senate, the House and the White House, and this time it’s no completely different.

“Down-ballot, his endorsement has led to Republican defeats in the House — in the Senate, rather, and the House in ‘18. In ‘20, we lost the United States Senate and the White House. In ‘22, we underperformed miserably,” he stated. “And tonight, you’re seeing us lose again.”
