An overpass on northbound Interstate 95 in northeast Philadelphia that collapsed Sunday after a big fireplace is more likely to take months to rebuild, officers say.

Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro instructed reporters it’s anticipated to take months to reconstruct the collapsed portion that crumbled after a big fireplace broke out from an accident.

Mr. Shapiro, a Democrat, stated he plans to problem a catastrophe declaration to expedite the rebuilding course of.

A gasoline tanker spilled about 8,500 gallons after an accident, which began the fireplace beneath the overpass, officers stated. The intense blaze prompted the northbound lanes to crumble and broken the southbound overpass. The freeway will stay closed in each instructions close to the incident.

Officials stated no deaths or critical accidents had been reported.
